Company History

1929
In 1929 the HOMANN family took over the "SACHSA" sawmill in Herzberg am Harz.

1949
In 1949 production of wet processed hard fibre boards was launched in this factory.

1991
The "Success Story" of the thin, two sides smooth HDF/MDF wood fibre boards began.

1995
Only 4 years later, HOMANIT launched production of two sides smooth HDF/MDF boards at its Losheim am See/Saarland factory.

1995
In 1995, both factories received DIN EN ISO 9001 certification from the Frankfurt-based DQS.

1997
In 1997 the lacquering capacity was doubled to 50 million m²/year.

1999
Extension of the press at the Losheim factory, therefore increasing the raw board capacity by 25% to 170,000 m²

2005
In February 2005, the assets of the insolvent Company Plyty Karlino in Karlino, Poland were taken over. At the same time the company HOMANIT POLSKA came into operation.

2005
In November 2005, the new lacquering machine at the Karlino works started operation. Boards in thicknesses from 2-6 mm and sizes up to 5600 x 2225 mm are printed in wood decors and lacquered in uni colours. The lacquering capacity of the HOMANIT Group was hereby increased to 100 million cubic meters/year.

2006
In September 2006, the Karlino factory was certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 by the Germanischer Lloyd Certification GmbH.

2008
The “first board” was manufactured on the new 28 m Dieffenbacher ContiPress at Homanit’s Karlino factory in April 2008. The state-of-the-art, continuous press can produce a maximum width of 2,550 mm. In order to be able to refine the products in this width, investments were made in an appropriate sander, a state-of-the-art lacquering system, as well as a new modern saw.
